Case Study: Casa de Ángeles Website Design and Development

For a nonprofit, a website needs to explain the mission, build trust, and give supporters a clear way to get involved. As the web designer and developer for Casa de Ángeles, I created a WordPress website that brings its story, photo archives, and opportunities to give into one cohesive experience.

Client Overview

Casa de Ángeles Foundation supports a home and school near Antigua, Guatemala, serving orphaned and abandoned children, including children with disabilities. The volunteer-run foundation raises funds to support their care, education, and future opportunities.

Through Bright House Media, I designed and developed a website that connects this work with the donors and supporters who help sustain it.

The Challenge

The project needed to balance a compelling introduction to the organization with practical information for supporters. Visitors needed to understand the mission, learn how donations help, explore the foundation’s history, and find ways to stay connected.

The scope included seven core pages: Home, About, Donate, Contact Us, Gallery, FAQ, and Newsletter. Existing files also needed to be migrated, while the gallery and newsletter sections required an organized approach to years of material.

Designing Around the Mission

I structured the homepage around the organization’s story and the actions supporters could take next. Sections introduce Casa de Ángeles, explain its history, highlight opportunities to give, and direct visitors to photographs, frequently asked questions, and newsletter signup.

The header navigation gives visitors direct access to the main sections. Consistent theme settings, page layouts, and shared header and footer elements bring the website together visually.

The About page gives the foundation’s history room to unfold, with a timeline showing the development of its home, school, and facilities. This turns the organization’s background into a story visitors can follow.

Making Support Information Easy to Find

I created a dedicated donation page that explains the purpose of giving and presents information about the endowment fund, tribute gifts, and donations by check. Links to additional ways to support the foundation give visitors options for participating.

The FAQ page addresses questions about the organization’s history, education, use of donations, and ways to get involved. A contact page provides a straightforward form for visitors who want to ask questions or connect with the foundation.

Preserving Years of Photos and Updates

The gallery and newsletter archive were substantial parts of the build. I organized the gallery by year, giving visitors a way to explore photographs from different stages of Casa de Ángeles’ history.

The newsletter section also uses year-based navigation, bringing past updates together in one place. A signup form gives interested visitors a way to receive future news and maintain a connection with the organization.

These sections preserve the foundation’s history while showing supporters the people, milestones, and everyday moments behind its mission.

WordPress Development and Launch

The development work included creating the WP Engine installation, configuring the theme, installing necessary plugins, building the core pages, and migrating files.

I managed the project through client feedback and edits, quality assurance, and launch. This brought the design, content, and website functionality together into a finished site.

The Result

Casa de Ángeles gained a WordPress website that presents its mission alongside donation information, contact options, photographs, and newsletter archives. Visitors can learn about the foundation, explore its history, and choose how they want to participate.

The project demonstrates how I combine website design, development, and content organization to support nonprofit communication and donor engagement.
